Ackerman Modern: Pieces by Evelyn and Jerry Ackerman in the May 23, 2010 Auction

Evelyn and Jerry Ackerman are the best! Not only do we love everything they have produced and inspired, we think they are just great people. Last time I wrote about them was when we had a missing tile in the mosaic panel titled “Puerta”. Just as an update, Jerry fixed this for us with a spare tile he had in his studio, so “Puerta” is good as new! In addition to this mosaic panel, we are also offering an Evelyn Ackerman wool tapestry and a Jerry Ackerman bottle with stopper. If you haven’t seen the new Ackerman Modern website, you absolutely must, it’s amazing! Here are all the Ackerman pieces we are offering in the May 23, 2010 Modern Art & Design Auction:

Mosaic Wall Panel and a chat with Jerry Ackerman

Our latest endeavor is with this beautiful Mid-Century mosaic wall panel, titled “Puerta”, 1959, designed by Evelyn Ackerman. We just received it on consignment, but we did notice that there was one tile missing. When we were deciphering the date and title of the work, there was only one person to call for help: Jerry Ackerman (Evelyn’s husband).  Jerry Ackerman is extremely knowledgeable and has a catalog of all of Evelyn’s works tucked away in his head. He was quite helpful when we asked him about the panel, as well as the missing tile. He told us to make a “rubbing” so he could find a tile that would fit perfectly in the current void. We are personally going to drop off the panel at his studio so that he can properly restore it for our consignor. Talk about customer service! Once we get the panel fixed it’s going right into our Spring 2010 Auction.

If you have not already, please check out the Ackerman’s new website. The work they have produced in the past is pure Californian Modern, needless to say, we absolutely adore all of it.
