LAMA’s very own Julie Wearing, you may know her by her lovely British accent, will be having a collaborative gallery sale of her own work at the Malibu Country Mart, which officially opens tomorrow, December 11th from 2 – 6pm.
Julie Wearing was born and educated in England, where she majored in English and Art at college with the aim of teaching, but instead decided traveling with her partner would be much more of a learning experience, which led her to fashion design.
When her first child was born she moved back to England and ran art workshops for primary school children and the Brighton Festival. Julie’s first foray with clay was at 4-years-old, and during this time in England she drifted occasionally to the medium.
After moving back to Los Angeles 10 years ago she started taking workshops and bought her first raku kiln, which led her back to her love for playing with mud and Julie hasn’t looked back since.
Julie’s work, along with the work of Tyler Burton and Gale McCall, will be at the Country Mart in Malibu from December 10 – 24th, so make sure you stop soon to purchase their hand-crafted works.
Gallery Hours: Thursday – Sunday; 12pm – 6pm, or by appointment: 310-488-9766
