After a long summer break the blog is back!
Shannon and Peter visited family in Ireland for a short vacation earlier in the summer, and couldn’t help but hunt for modern design, even on vacation. Ireland isn’t exactly known as a hotbed for modern production, but of course Peter and Shannon were able to find a couple of outstanding examples. First they stumbled upon the workshop of Joe Walsh. Walsh is a highly skilled craftsman on par with Nakashima, Maloof, etc. He recently showed at SOFA as well as other international fairs. We will probably be seeing a lot more of him in America.
On a day trip to County Cork Peter and Shannon stopped into the Crawford Museum and discovered an amazing 50’s artist named John Ffrench. Shannon snapped a quick picture while no one was looking. Now we just have to see if any of these Italian inspired works can actually be found on the market. Also, Peter and Shannon were pleased to see an amazing glass and concrete pavilion in the style of Mies van der Rohe that overlooks the Kinsale harbor in County Cork.
They had a great vacation and even got to enjoy a pint or three.
